Unpredictable Arrivals : Paintings by Donald Cole
view press release

November 1 - December 29, 2007

ArtXchange presents “Unpredictable Arrivals,” a solo exhibition featuring the paintings of artist Donald Cole. Cole’s latest work explores the abstract visual qualities and emotional effects of language, contrasting the angular forms of Sanskrit with the rounder, gestural forms of Malayalam, the language of Kerala, India. Cole also continues his exploration of texture and color, evoking the effects of time and weather on surfaces, worn stone walls, crumbling frescoes, and layers of signs and symbols. These paintings are the ‘unpredictable arrivals’ of an intuitive artist’s continuing journey of discovery.

A full exhibition catalog for "Unpredictable Arrivals," including an essay by John Levy, is available for download or purchase a signed copy at ArtXchange for $15 (tax included).
