I frequently reference my childhood experiences as my source of inspiration. Born and raised in one of the most artistically collaborative cities in Mexico, Mazatlan, I am no stranger to distinctive forms of art. Because of the amount of European influence brought by German immigrants, Mazatlan is filled with traditional German and traditional Mexican influences, often in combination. "Mazatlan Through My Eyes” is a documentation of the daily life in my hometown. One of my goals as a photographer is to give outsiders a different view of the cultural history, architecture, and lifestyle in my native Mexico, while examining the elusive concept of homeland. |
