Moving to America with my family when I was a child was an experience in huge change, which along with later living for a year in Rome, Italy and a year in Kyoto, Japan, made me very much aware of both the use and limitations of spoken and written language. For me, this has led to seeking inner equilibrium in the midst of change and sharing it through a universal medium not dependent on words. My paintings reflect that process.
