Following my arrival in the United States in 2000, I began integrating the art of calligraphy into and in conjunction with other art forms.
I have created art pieces as a part of performances with taiko drumming, Marimba and Koto music. These creations are designed to reflect and expand on the activities of the other performers. I approach each design by incorporating the meaning of the "kanji" into the picture, colors and strokes. In some cases I have opted for a literal translation of the word, while in others I have combined characters to create a new expression.
